Nuclear spindle
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008118
A cytoskeletal structure composed of microtubules that forms during cell division to segregate chromosomes into two daughter cells. It assembles in the cytoplasm or nucleus, depending on the organism, and attaches to chromosomes at their kinetochores. The proper formation and function of the spindle are checked by the spindle assembly checkpoint before anaphase begins.
