Anaphase
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000562
The stage of mitosis or meiosis during which sister chromatids (in mitosis and meiosis II) or homologous chromosomes (in meiosis I) separate and move toward opposite poles of the cell. This movement is driven by the shortening of spindle microtubules. It immediately follows metaphase and precedes telophase.
