Mitosis

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007420

The process of nuclear division in eukaryotic cells, where a parent cell's replicated chromosomes are separated into two identical sets. This division results in two daughter nuclei, each containing the same number and kind of chromosomes as the parent nucleus. Mitosis is conventionally divided into four stages: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase, and is followed by cytokinesis to complete cell division.
