Nuclear hormone receptor

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008102

A class of proteins that bind to specific hormone molecules and regulate gene expression within the cell nucleus. These receptors act as transcription factors, directly controlling the synthesis of messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) from DNA. Examples include receptors for steroid hormones, thyroid hormones, and retinoids.
