Thyroid stimulating hormone

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012052

A glycoprotein hormone produced and secreted by the anterior pituitary gland, which regulates the function of the thyroid gland. It stimulates the thyroid to produce and release thyroid hormones, thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Blood levels of this hormone are a key indicator of thyroid function and are measured in units of milli-international units per liter (mIU/L).
