Goitrogen

A substance that interferes with the normal function of the thyroid gland, leading to an enlargement of the gland, known as a goiter. These compounds can inhibit iodine uptake, interfere with thyroid hormone synthesis, or increase thyroid hormone degradation. Common goitrogens include certain foods like cassava and cruciferous vegetables, as well as some medications.
