Graves disease
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005012
An autoimmune disorder characterized by hyperthyroidism, resulting from the immune system producing antibodies that stimulate the thyroid gland. These autoantibodies mimic the action of thyroid-stimulating hormone, leading to an overproduction of thyroid hormones. Symptoms include goiter, exophthalmos, and rapid heart rate, and diagnosis often involves measuring thyroid hormone levels and detecting specific autoantibodies.
