Spontaneous autoimmune thyroiditis

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011241

An autoimmune disorder characterized by the immune system mistakenly attacking the thyroid gland, leading to inflammation and dysfunction. This condition develops without an identifiable external trigger and results in the production of autoantibodies against thyroid components. The NOD (non-obese diabetic) mouse is a widely used animal model for studying this disease.
