Non-obese diabetic mouse

A specific inbred strain of laboratory mouse that spontaneously develops autoimmune diabetes mellitus type 1, mimicking the human condition. This mouse model is widely used in immunology and diabetes research to study the genetic and environmental factors contributing to autoimmune diseases. The mice typically develop hyperglycemia and insulitis by 12-30 weeks of age.
