Ketoacidosis

A metabolic state characterized by high concentrations of ketone bodies in the blood, leading to a decrease in blood pH (acidosis). This condition occurs when the body produces excessive ketones as an alternative energy source due to insufficient insulin or carbohydrate intake. Diabetic ketoacidosis is a severe complication of diabetes mellitus.
