Keto carbenes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006322
Highly reactive neutral organic intermediates containing a divalent carbon atom directly bonded to a carbonyl group. These species possess a carbon atom with only six valence electrons and an unshared electron pair. Keto carbenes are typically generated from diazo ketones and undergo rearrangements, such as the Wolff rearrangement, to form ketenes.
