  "definition": "A variant of atom-transfer radical polymerization where a non-metallic reagent, instead of a metal catalyst, reversibly passes a halogen atom or group to the growing radical and regenerates a dormant alkyl halide chain. The transferred group is often iodine, and the reagents include compounds of nitrogen, phosphorus, germanium or tin, as well as organic photoredox catalysts under light. It differs from RAFT, where a sulfur-based agent mediates degenerative chain transfer.",
