Primary myxedema

A condition characterized by severe hypothyroidism resulting from a dysfunction of the thyroid gland itself. This leads to a marked decrease in the production of thyroid hormones, often due to autoimmune destruction of the thyroid tissue. Symptoms include fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, and a characteristic swelling of the skin and subcutaneous tissues.
