Tumor antigen

A substance produced by tumor cells that can elicit an immune response in the host organism. These antigens can be unique to tumor cells or be normal cellular proteins that are overexpressed, mutated, or aberrantly presented on the cell surface. They serve as targets for immune surveillance and immunotherapy.
