Tumor rejection antigen

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012352

A molecule expressed on the surface of tumor cells that can be recognized by the host's immune system, leading to the destruction of the tumor. These antigens are presented by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules and are targeted by cytotoxic T lymphocytes. Tumor rejection antigens are classified into several groups, including tumor-specific antigens that arise from mutations unique to the cancer cell and tumor-associated antigens which are also expressed on some normal cells.
