Major histocompatibility complex class I molecule

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006929

A cell surface glycoprotein found on nearly all nucleated cells, responsible for presenting intracellular antigens to cytotoxic T lymphocytes. These molecules display peptides derived from proteins synthesized within the cell, including viral proteins or tumor antigens. They consist of an alpha chain non-covalently associated with beta-2 microglobulin.
