Tumor suppressor gene
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012353
A gene that regulates cell growth and division, typically by inhibiting cell proliferation or promoting apoptosis, thereby preventing the development of cancer. Loss-of-function mutations in both alleles of these genes can lead to uncontrolled cell growth and tumor formation. Examples include TP53, BRCA1, and RB1.
