Suppressor

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011619

A component in an analytical system that reduces or eliminates an unwanted signal or interference. In chromatography, a suppressor can decrease the background conductivity of the eluent, thereby enhancing the detection of analytes. For example, in ion chromatography, a chemical suppressor neutralizes the highly conductive eluent ions before they reach the conductivity detector.
