Post-column derivatization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009302
A chemical reaction performed on analytes after they have been separated by a chromatographic column but before they reach the detector. This process converts the analytes into derivatives that possess properties more suitable for detection, such as enhanced fluorescence or UV absorbance. A common application is the ninhydrin reaction for amino acid detection in high-performance liquid chromatography.
