Cell proliferation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001779
An increase in the number of cells resulting from cell growth and division. This process involves a tightly regulated sequence of events known as the cell cycle, which includes phases for DNA replication and mitosis. Dysregulation of this process, often caused by exposure to certain chemicals or radiation, can lead to uncontrolled growth and is a characteristic feature of cancer.
