Cell mortality
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012958
The irreversible loss of viability in a population of cells, leading to their death. This can occur through programmed processes such as apoptosis or necrosis, or as a result of external stressors like toxic chemicals or physical damage. It is quantified by methods such as trypan blue exclusion or assays detecting caspase activation.
