Myelopoiesis

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007734

The biological process occurring primarily in the bone marrow that leads to the formation of all myeloid cells from hematopoietic stem cells. These cells include granulocytes, monocytes, erythrocytes, and megakaryocytes, which are components of the innate immune system and blood. The process is tightly regulated by a complex network of growth factors and cytokines, and its disruption by toxic substances can result in severe blood disorders such as aplastic anemia or leukemia.
