Fish embryo test
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004445
A method for assessing the acute toxicity of chemicals on the embryonic stages of fish. Fertilized eggs are exposed to different concentrations of a test substance, and lethal and sublethal effects are observed over a short period until just after hatching. The test using zebrafish (Danio rerio) is standardized under OECD Test Guideline 236 and serves as an alternative to adult fish acute toxicity tests.
