Fish sexual development test

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013107

An in vivo assay designed to assess the potential effects of a chemical substance on the sexual differentiation and development of fish. The test involves exposing fish from an early life stage through sexual maturation to the test substance, after which endpoints such as gonadal histology, secondary sexual characteristics, and reproductive hormone levels are evaluated. This test is a standard method for identifying endocrine-disrupting chemicals, often conducted according to guidelines like OECD Test Guideline 234.
