Cyclic acid anhydrides
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002814
Organic compounds formed by the intramolecular dehydration of a dicarboxylic acid, resulting in a cyclic structure containing the -C(O)-O-C(O)- functional group. These compounds are highly reactive acylating agents and are commonly used in organic synthesis. Phthalic anhydride is a well-known example of a cyclic acid anhydride.
