d-ion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003229
An N-terminal fragment ion of a protonated peptide, formed in high-energy collision-induced dissociation, that is an a-type ion which has also lost part of the side chain of its C-terminal residue. The d ions of leucine and isoleucine differ because their branched side chains lose different groups. The C-terminal counterpart of the d ion is the w ion.
