Electron-transfer dissociation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003764
A fragmentation method in mass spectrometry where a radical anion transfers an electron to a protonated peptide or protein, leading to the dissociation of peptide bonds. This process generates c- and z-type fragment ions, which retain post-translational modifications. It is particularly effective for analyzing large biomolecules and their modifications.
