Proteomics
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009603
The large-scale study of proteins, particularly their structures and functions, within a biological system. Proteomics investigates the proteome, which is the complete set of proteins produced by an organism or system at a specific time under defined conditions. This field uses techniques like mass spectrometry and two-dimensional gel electrophoresis to identify and quantify proteins and their post-translational modifications.
