Bottom-up proteomics

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001449

An analytical approach in proteomics where proteins are first enzymatically digested into smaller peptides, which are then separated and identified using mass spectrometry. The identified peptides are subsequently assembled computationally to infer the identities of the original proteins in the sample. This method is widely used for protein identification and quantification in complex biological mixtures.
