Mass fingerprinting
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006978
A technique used to identify proteins by comparing the mass-to-charge ratios of their proteolytic fragments to a database of theoretical peptide masses. The protein is first digested into smaller peptides, and their masses are measured using mass spectrometry. This method is widely applied in proteomics for protein identification.
