Metabolite fingerprinting and footprinting
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007243
Metabolite fingerprinting involves the rapid, high-throughput analysis of a broad range of metabolites in a biological sample to obtain a characteristic metabolic signature. Metabolite footprinting, conversely, analyzes metabolites secreted or excreted by an organism into its surrounding environment. Both techniques aim to capture a snapshot of the metabolic state, often used for classification or comparison between different conditions.
