Metabolism quenching
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007242
The rapid cessation of all metabolic activity within a biological sample, performed immediately after collection to preserve the metabolic profile. This process prevents post-sampling changes in metabolite concentrations due to enzymatic reactions or degradation. Common methods include rapid cooling to cryogenic temperatures or the addition of strong acids or organic solvents.
