Proteolytic digestion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009599
The controlled enzymatic cleavage of proteins into smaller peptide fragments using specific proteases. This process is a fundamental step in bottom-up proteomics, preparing proteins for analysis by mass spectrometry. Trypsin is a commonly used enzyme due to its high specificity for cleaving after lysine and arginine residues.
