Trypsin

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012334

A serine protease enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of peptide bonds, specifically at the carboxyl side of lysine or arginine residues. It is widely used in biochemistry and molecular biology for protein digestion, often in preparation for mass spectrometry analysis. This enzyme is produced in the pancreas as inactive trypsinogen and activated in the small intestine.
