Tissue transglutaminase
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012084
An enzyme that catalyzes the formation of isopeptide bonds between protein-bound glutamine and lysine residues, leading to protein cross-linking. In immunology, autoantibodies targeting this enzyme are a primary diagnostic marker for celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder triggered by gluten. The detection of IgA antibodies against tissue transglutaminase is a standard serological test for screening individuals for this condition.
