Systemic lupus erythematosus

A chronic, systemic autoimmune disease characterized by inflammation and tissue damage in multiple organ systems, including joints, skin, kidneys, heart, and lungs. It is caused by the immune system producing autoantibodies that target the body's own tissues, particularly antinuclear antibodies. Diagnosis often involves a combination of clinical symptoms and serological tests for specific autoantibodies.
