Autoimmune nephritis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000979
Inflammation of the kidneys caused by an autoimmune response where the body's immune system attacks its own renal tissues. This process can damage the glomeruli, tubules, or blood vessels of the kidney, impairing its function. Autoimmune nephritis is a feature of several systemic autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus nephritis) and Goodpasture syndrome.
