Goodpasture syndrome

An autoimmune disease characterized by the production of autoantibodies against specific components of the basement membranes in the kidneys and lungs. This leads to progressive damage in these organs, manifesting as glomerulonephritis and pulmonary hemorrhage. The target antigen is typically the alpha-3 chain of type IV collagen.
