Paraneoplastic autoimmune syndrome

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008453

A group of disorders characterized by neurological or systemic dysfunction that arises in individuals with cancer, but not due to direct tumor invasion or metastasis. These syndromes are mediated by an autoimmune response where the immune system attacks components of the nervous system or other tissues. The autoantibodies involved often target antigens shared by the tumor and normal tissues.
