Autoimmune peripheral neuropathy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012906
A group of disorders where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks components of the peripheral nervous system, leading to nerve damage. This immune response can target myelin, axons, or other nerve structures, resulting in weakness, numbness, pain, and other neurological symptoms. Guillain-Barré syndrome is a well-known acute form of autoimmune peripheral neuropathy.
