Axonopathy

A disease or condition primarily affecting the axons of nerve cells, leading to their degeneration or dysfunction. This type of neuropathy results in impaired signal transmission and can manifest as weakness, sensory loss, or autonomic disturbances. It is distinct from myelinopathies, which primarily affect the myelin sheath.
