Paresthesia

An abnormal sensation of the skin, such as tingling, prickling, chilling, burning, or numbness, with no apparent long-term physical cause. It results from dysfunction of sensory neurons or their pathways in the central or peripheral nervous system. This condition can be a transient effect of nerve compression or a chronic symptom of neurotoxicant exposure, metabolic disorders like diabetes, or neurological diseases.
