Chemesthesis

The chemical sensitivity of the skin and mucous membranes, distinct from taste and smell, that produces sensations such as irritation, burning, tingling, or cooling. This sensory perception is mediated by the trigeminal nerve and other cranial nerves. Examples include the burning sensation from capsaicin in chili peppers or the cooling effect of menthol.
