Monoterpenoids
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007565
Terpenoids built on a ten-carbon skeleton from two isoprene units, including hydrocarbons of formula C10H16 such as limonene and oxygenated or otherwise modified derivatives such as menthol, C10H20O. They are often volatile and give many plants their characteristic scents. Limonene is abundant in citrus peel, and menthol supplies the cooling sensation of peppermint.
