Furocoumarins
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004729
A class of organic compounds characterized by a furan ring fused to a coumarin nucleus. These compounds are naturally occurring plant metabolites, particularly abundant in citrus fruits and some vegetables. They are known for their photosensitizing properties, which can lead to dermatological reactions upon exposure to UV light.
