Furanocoumarins
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004726
A class of organic compounds derived from the fusion of a furan ring with a coumarin structure. These compounds are naturally occurring in many plants, particularly in the Rutaceae and Apiaceae families. They are known for their photosensitizing properties and can cause phytophotodermatitis upon exposure to ultraviolet light.
