Fusion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004731
The process of joining two or more biological entities, such as cells, protoplasts, or membranes, to form a single, combined structure. This can occur naturally, as in fertilization, or be induced artificially in laboratory settings. Cell fusion is a technique used in biotechnology to create hybrid cells with combined genetic material, for example, in the production of monoclonal antibodies.
