Fusion name

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004732

A name for a fused polycyclic ring system that has the greatest possible number of noncumulative double bonds and at least one pair of rings sharing a bond, built by dividing the system into components that already have recognized names. One component is chosen as the base component, and the others are attached to it as prefixes. Naphthalene and anthracene are retained names of single components, not fusion names.
