Cis-fused

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002090

A stereodescriptor for two rings sharing a bond, meaning that the exocyclic atoms or groups on the two shared bridgehead atoms lie on the same side of the ring system. In cis-decalin the two ring-fusion hydrogens are on the same face, whereas in trans-decalin they are on opposite faces. The descriptor is placed before the ring-system name and applies to saturated bridgeheads.
