Conjunctive name
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002447
A name formed by joining the name of a ring system to the name of a functionalized acyclic parent hydride, such as methanol or acetic acid, with each component losing a hydrogen atom where they join. Examples are cyclohexanemethanol, for cyclohexylmethanol, and benzeneacetic acid, for phenylacetic acid. Conjunctive names are not used for preferred IUPAC names in the current recommendations.
